Since I got MAC Morange I seem to have developed a THING about Orange lips. So I've been keeping a beady one out for anything tangerine-y-ish (ha!).
THEN I spotted the (annoyingly) ALWAYS-gorgeous J.Lo sporting the new L'oreal Glamshine Fresh lipgloss in Aqua Mandarin and got VERY excited!!
Check her out! Think you'll agree she looks FABULOUS!!
So off I went, purse in hand, down to my little local Boots to go grab me an Aqua Mandarin so i could look JUST like J.Lo (HA!!)
So here it is...
And i bet you can guess what's coming next....
I DON'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE J.LO!!
In fact I don't even have orange lips! This just goes on as a glorified CLEAR gloss!
That said, it will get some use. Maybe as an overcoat for Morange or similar. It does give a VAGUE hint at colour but nowhere near enough for it to be worth it for me. I wasn't expecting BRIGHT orange lips or anything, but I was expecting something more than what i got with this. Just in case you're thinking "why didn't you swatch it in Boots ya dozy mare", the tester for this appeared to be AWOL cos i couldn't see it anywhere.
Then, when i did a little trip to Superdrug last week I spotted Max Factor Max Effect Lipgloss in Orange Smack and thought I'd give orange glosses another chance.
Here it is next to Aqua Mandarin....
Now this gloss i LOVE! I wouldn't always go for a gloss like this because of the shiny bits in it but this isn't overly glittery once applied. It gave what i was hoping Aqua Mandarin would give.
You can see there's a subtle (yet DEFINITE) difference there!!
The only grumble i have for Orange Smack is the TASTE!! It's so sickly sweet (kinda like a cross between grapefruit and those chewable orange vitamin C tablets you get from Boots) it almost set me off with a migraine it was that strong! But I will endure it for the sake of the colour.
I'm looking forward to wearing this on summery days!
What do you reckon to these colours?? Did you wanna be J.Lo too??
(also any advice on how to take good pics of lipstick/lipgloss would be extremely welcome cos mine are a total FAIL!!)
Ah I swatched this in store and noticed it was mega sheer so I skipped that and I hate gloss haha! I dont think theres anything wrong with the pics :) you done a great job x

ReplyDeleteI have a Sleek lipstick in 'peaches n creme' which I really don't want. It's brand new, I'll happily send it to you for free if you would like it because I won't ever use it! can't believe how rubbish the pigments are in the L'oreal lipstick though I am not too surprised, I dislike their products. xx
